Trinity College is a private college that was established in 1823. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 2,200 students (fall 2020), is located in an urban setting, and covers 100 acres. Trinity College students live in a small community in the heart of the state capital. In Hartford, Connecticut, the campus is a large city where students can do everything from seeing concerts at the Comcast and Webster theatres to learning how to fire a Revolutionary War cannon at the Old State House.

Students who attend school in the state capital have access to hundreds of internship opportunities at various organizations throughout the city. First-year students must live on campus and live and study with other students in their First-Year Program.

Outside of class, students can join one of more than 100 clubs and organizations. On-campus, there are a few Greek organizations. Trinity’s athletic teams compete in the NCAA Division III New England Small College Athletic Conference and are supported by the school mascot, a bantam rooster.

Don’t be perplexed when looking for a college: Although Trinity College is a common name for religious schools, this liberal arts college is nondenominational.

Trinity University has a campus in Rome, Italy, and its main campus is in Hartford. During their undergraduate years, moreover half of Trinity students study abroad. In addition, Trinity operates a field station in Ashford, Connecticut, where students and faculty do research in the natural and environmental sciences. What is Trinity University’s GPA requirement?

Your GPA as well as high school class rank, availability, and letters of recommendation are considered important. They are properly reviewed before you are given admission at Trinity University.

The required GPA is  3.7- 4.0. That means your grades should be all B’s or a mix of A’s and B’s.

What are the admission requirements for First Year students at Trinity University? 

  • You are required to apply online via the Common Application or the Apply Texas Application or Coalition Application; preferably the Common Application for first-year students.
  • You are to submit an essay through Common Application. 
  • You are required to address your selected essay topic as completely as possible.
  • You should take your time to craft a thoughtful response 
  • Your writing should be spell-checked, and possibly proofread by someone else before submitting.
  • You can submit the essay to multiple institutions if you are using the Common Application or the Coalition Application.
  • You are required to submit your High School Transcripts/Academic record. 
  • Your grade point average, the rigor of your courses, and the diversity of your curriculum will be taken into notice for admission.
  • If you take honors, Advanced Placement, or International Baccalaureate courses; a particular notice will be given.
  • Your GPA will be recalculated by the Trinity University Admission office. The University will use a standardized un-weighted scale to compensate for discrepancies in grading scales among different high schools.
  • Trinity University recommends that you complete the following courses:
  1. – 4 years of English
  2. – 3 years of mathematics (including either trigonometry or pre-calculus)
  3. – 3 years of science (at least 2 years of laboratory science)
  4. – 3 years of social science
  5. – 2 years of the same foreign language
  • You are to submit your Teacher’s Evaluation Form/Recommendation letters. Trinity University will be able to know more about your personality and character from your teacher or guardian counselor recommendation letters. The university will also get to know more about your academic performance, and your full individual profile as a person and scholar. Your counselors and teachers can provide context when reviewing your academic record concerning the school attended.
  • You are to submit your School Report Form
  • Extracurricular Activities: Trinity University will admit you if they see qualities that will add to their active campus community. Hence, the university takes into consideration your extracurricular involvement, what activity you have been active in, and duration of activeness, or leadership experience. You can share additional information about activities that are related to school, church, family, community, part- or full-time jobs, accomplishments, and awards.
  • You have the option to submit or not submit your SAT/ACT Scores. Trinity University already introduced a test-optional policy for all first-year applicants in Fall 2021, Fall 2022, and Fall 2023.
  • In the absence of standardized test results, you can choose to be evaluated only on high school grades, essays, recommendation letters, curriculum rigor, achievements, interviews, and contributions to your school and community.

The requirements for international students are similar to that of first-year students

  • You can apply using the Common Application or the Coalition Application.
  • There is no application fee for online submission.
  • You are required to submit your High School Transcripts/Academic record.

  • If you take honors, Advanced Placement, or International Baccalaureate courses; a particular notice will be given.

  • All your records must be submitted in English. 
  • You can submit certified English translations with your official transcripts and records if your school records are not in English.
  • Your school counselor or school official are the ones to submit your school records; this makes it official.
  • Your records will not be accepted if you submit them yourself.
  •  You can upload your records via the Common Application or Coalition websites. It can also be submitted officially via mail by your school counselor or school official.
  • Trinity University recommends that you complete the following courses:
  • If your first language is not English, or you did not attend an English-medium secondary school for the 4 most recent consecutive years of secondary study, Trinity university requires you to prove how proficient you are in English. Hence, you are to submit either your TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo exam score as proof.  The university accepts the TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo exams.

What is the next step after acceptance as an international student?

  • You are to submit a $500 non-refundable deposit to the single college or university in which you plan to enroll.
  • You can send a money order or check payable to Trinity University, or submit your deposit online via your portal.
  • You are to submit the “New Student Information Form.” The form and the $500 deposit secure your enrollment at Trinity. The university will generate and mail an I-20 form to you upon receipt of your deposit and the New Student Information Form.
  • You are required to submit financial support and additional documentation from a bank official.  The bank statement should be recent, drafted in English, and give details about the amount of money that the family is obligated to pay for the first year of study at Trinity (minus any scholarships/grants received by the university). It should be able to cover the expected family contribution. The listed A funds must be in numeric value regardless of currency.
  • Obtain F-1 Student Visa- You must present the I-20 along with any other required documents to a U.S. consulate or embassy in your home country to apply for a student visa after receiving the I-20 form from Trinity. You can check consulates and embassies’ websites for detailed information about this procedure. You should apply for your visa as soon as you receive your I-20 since the application process may take several weeks.
