It was established in 1989 to create opportunities for higher education for sons and daughters of the state’s rural dwellers, as well as provide high-level manpower for local development needs.
The Osun State University is operated under a charter from the legislature of Osun State, Nigeria. The University has over 60 academic departments, 16 faculties, 4 divisions, and two colleges. The University has two campuses – one at the Ede Township (Main Campus) and the other at Ilesa Township (Ilesa Campus).
