Purchase a piece of plywood the size of the headboard you want to make, A 2’x3′ piece of plywood can do the job

Purchase a piece of plywood the size of the headboard you want to manufacture, I recommend you use a 2’x3′ inch piece of plywood. The cost of the plywood would vary depending on where you purchase plywood materials from. But budget between $20 and $100 for the purchase of plywood.

This cost may increase if you have to order your plywood online which will bring in shipping costs to your cost of plywood.

Cut two pieces of foam board to the required headboard size plus a foot on each side.

Grab two pieces of foam board and cut them down to your desired headboard size plus an extra foot on each side

We recommend you use two pieces of 2’x4′ foam board and cut them down to 3’x5′. Use the extra length in the design of your headboard. Now that you have your fabric and foam board cut to size, the next thing to do is to attach them. You can use staples, tape, or glue if you want to make sure the foam and board stay put.

You can use an x-acto knife and 1″ nails/screws to attach the pieces. To do this simply poke holes through both pieces at the same time using a screwdriver or hammer (depending on what you have available). Once they’re all in place, just fill them with wood glue.

Trace your design using a pencil, ruler, and Sharpie on foam board.

On top of the foam board, trace out your design with a pencil and ruler then go over it with a Sharpie

Using a sharp x-acto knife, simply cut through the foam board by your design. While doing this you need to be very careful with the knife. It is sharp, and you don’t want to accidentally cut yourself.

Use a ruler and pencil to draw out your design first, then go over it with a Sharpie. Make sure to do this on the foam board, and not on the fabric.

Cut a piece of cloth three inches larger than the foam board all around, then wrap and staple one side.

Cut a piece of fabric about three inches bigger than the foam board all around using scissors then wrap over one side and staple it to the back with a staple gun

Wrap the other three sides and staple it as well, stretching out any wrinkles as you go along. Cut a piece of fabric about three inches bigger than the foam board all around using scissors then wrap over one side and staple it to the back with a staple gun.

Wrap the other three sides and staple them as well, stretching out any wrinkles as you go along. The fabric should be big enough to wrap around the board without folding over at all so that if your piece is too small, you will need to use another one of your fabrics for this step instead.

Stretch your cloth over the sides and staple it on both rear corners and in the center of each side to eliminate wrinkles and creases.

Take your time when doing this, do not rush, and make sure you do not miss a spot. As you staple the fabrics, pull firmly to eliminate wrinkles and creases (for those of us with less than steady hands, using the palm of your hand for support can help).

When stapling along the sides of your headboard, be careful not to leave any staples in the center area where they could be seen from above or below. This includes creating straight lines across all four corners when attaching them.

Staples should only be in two corners per side; namely top left then bottom right on each side of the headboard if it’s rectangular or square-shaped (or just one corner per side if it’s L-shaped).

If creases are occurring within these areas due to tightness/pulling too hard while attaching them then use an ironing board & pressing sheet (or another protective layer)underneath so that none will get caught up when pressing down firmly against them while stapling through both layers at once.

Attach foam board to plywood with 1″ nails or screws, then flip it over so it’s right side up.

Attach the foam directly onto the plywood headboard frame to finish your headboard manufacture. Now that you have finished attaching the foam board to the plywood it is time to flip it over and see your finished product. To do this, take out all of your nails or screws and set them aside.

You should be able to simply lift the plywood panel and place it on top of your headboard frame. Once again, as long as you are using strong glue like Gorilla Wood Glue there shouldn’t be any need for nails or screws when securing the wall hanging into place.
