Is it true that Higher Institutions in Nigeria Will Resume in January 2021? There is an ongoing rumor that higher institutions (including universities, polytechnics, and colleges) in Nigeria will Resume in January 2021.

From the latest update, higher institutions will resume in January 2021. Many States has ordered for the reoping of schools for academic activities starting from January 2021.

But although the Federal Government has given the order for the reopening of secondary schools in Nigeria, there are laid down guidelines as follows:

Schools in the country would officially reopen in phases beginning August 4, 2020, for final-year students in Universities, SS3, and primary schools

This statement was disclosed to the public by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha.

He announced this during a daily COVID-19 briefing in Abuja, explained that the gesture is to enable final year, SSCE, and Primary Six students to take their exams.

But we believe that with this first step, it is sure that these people that fall under these categories will be able to resume and take their exams then it can then be extended for other students to return.

According to Boss Mustapha, “The Task Force Committee is working in a very systematic way to ensure all its decision making was informed by the best public health data and global best practices that ensure safe re-opening.

He said consultations to various stakeholders have already started with consultations on a memorandum of understanding dispatched to various learning institutions and other sectors for their views on the safe reopening of their various contents.

The SGF added that schools will be re-opened for all students later when the Federal Government is convinced that the lives of the students will be safe while in school.
