  • Standardized Test Scores: The standardized testing requirement is still on temporary suspension at RPI. If you are applying to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) as an undergraduate in the fall of 2022 or the spring of 2023, you have an option to choose whether or not to submit SAT or ACT scores owing to the recent suspension of SAT and ACT testing. It will be re-evaluated for the fall 2023 application cycle.

However, due to Albany Medical College requirements, students applying to the Physician-Scientist Program will be required to submit the following tests:

SAT or ACT: If you as an applicant take multiple tests, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) will super score the SAT, but will consider only the highest composite score on the ACT.TOEFL/IELTS/DET scores: You need to partake in this examination to prove your English language proficiency. However, this is basically for non-native English speakers or students whose primary language is not English or who do not study in a school where English is the primary language of instruction. The test score should be sent at the time of application. Self-reported English proficiency exam scores will not be accepted.

Kindly note; that your official scores are to be sent from the testing agency where you wrote the test. The Rensselaer’s SAT Code is 2757 while the ACT Code is 2866. The TOEFL Code is also 2757 just like the SAT. Ensure you monitor the online application status so that all the scores are processed into the file.

As an applicant, you must also submit an essay/personal statement. This satisfies Rensselaer’s essay requirements, except for applicants for the following programs: Accelerated Physician-Scientist (B.S./M.D.) Program (BIAM), Architecture (ARCH), Electronic Arts (EART), Games and Simulation Arts and Sciences (GSAS), and Music (MUSC)

  • Application fee waiver: This fee is only waived for Rensselaer Medalists. However, if your family’s total income is $70,000 or less, and the application fee presents a hardship for you and your family, then you are qualified for a fee waiver.

  • Portfolio (if required): If you are applying for the Architecture or Music program, you are expected to submit a creative portfolio. Kindly note that if you are interested in the School of Architecture but do not plan to submit a creative portfolio, you may wish to apply to (or change your major to) the 4-year B.S. in Building Sciences program. Also, if you are applying to the Games and Simulation Arts and Sciences (GSAS) and Electronic Arts (EART) programs, you may submit an optional creative portfolio.

This award comes with a minimum stipend of $23,830 for the 2021-2022 academic year and a full tuition and fees scholarship.
