The management of the National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the timetable for candidates that will participate in its 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

This is to inform all candidates who registered for the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) that the examination has been scheduled to commence on Monday 23th August, 2021.

The BECE (Basic Education Certificate Examination) is a test given to students in their final year of junior secondary school. It is used to help students transition from JSS 3 of basic education to senior high school.

SCHOOLS AND CANDIDATES SHOULD NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Where the time on the question paper differs from the time on this timetable, the time on the question paper should be strictly adhered to.
  • Practical in Business Studies as well as Basic Science & Technology (BST) should be in sets where the number of candidates is large and the equipment cannot go round. However, the practical examination should not exceed 5.00pm. Computers can be used in place of Typewriters for Business Studies.
  • Albinos and Blind Candidates are to be given 30mins extra time in all subjects.
  • Blind Candidates must make use of NECO-supplied OBR Customised Braille Sheet for the Examination

NECO BECE Junior WAEC Grading System

NECO conducts for Federal Unity Colleges and other allied institutions. BECE certificate replaces the primary school certificate as the first school leaving certificate.

The BECE grading system is as follows:

  • A – Distinction
  • B – Upper Credit
  • C – Lower Credit
  • P – Pass
  • F – Fail
