How To Arrange Your Dorm Room

There are several ways to organize your dorm room as a college student, we would be showing you ways of organizing your dorm room.

Some of the ways of organizing your dorm room include:

  1. Assign Everything a Spot
  2. Make Use of Vertical Space
  3. Checklist for Dorm Room Furniture and Storage
  4. Raise Beds for More Floor Space
  5. Use Mini Fridge Caddy
  6. Use  Plastic Storage Drawers
  7. DIY Wood Top Shelf
  8. DIY Wood Top Shelf
  9. Use Hanging Shoe Organizer
  10. Use Desktop Organizer

Assign Everything a Spot

Before you start, make a plan. Where will everything go? Who is doing what? How long will it take to put everything away? You may want to use a checklist or an app like Trello or Google Keep to keep track of your progress. When moving in, try not to stack boxes up high on top of each other because it can be dangerous and also hard for other people who live with you (or visit) to get around

If you have any boxes that are too heavy for yourself alone, ask another friend or family member if they can help out. Once all the heavy lifting is done and your room is clean enough on the surface to sit down without feeling grossed out by dust bunnies everywhere.

Make Use of Vertical Space

To make the most of your dorm room, you’ll need to utilize all available space. If you have access to a loft bed or bunk bed, consider rearranging your furniture so that it’s possible for students in the lower bed to get up without climbing over anyone else.

This will allow for easier access when getting ready in the morning or changing clothes at night. It will also allow more people in your room without feeling cramped at all. If this isn’t an option for you, then set aside a section of floor space where everyone can sit and watch TV together. This is something that helps break up long study sessions and keeps things fun while studying hard.

Another way to utilize vertical space is by hanging things on walls instead of stacking them on shelves or desks (which can easily overwhelm small spaces). This may require some creative thinking if there aren’t any studs nearby where pictures could be hung straight onto; but with some creativity, anything is possible.

Checklist for Dorm Room Furniture and Storage

Make sure it’s against one wall where there’s enough space for your roommate to walk around it. Then place the dresser next to it, leaving enough space between them so they don’t bump into each other when one person gets out of bed or opens their closet door during the night (which means in general that these items should be placed no more than 8 feet apart).

If possible, place both pieces against walls with windows so they’ll get good airflow throughout the day and prevent mildew build-up on window sills/sides of doors from moisture trapped inside when it rains outside (or snow melts).

Arrange other pieces around these two central pieces according to their function your desk near where you sleep so you can work at night if necessary; bookshelves along other walls where books can be stored safely out of reach from potential spills; laundry basket in an easily accessible location near where clothes will be washed so dirty clothes don’t pile up under beds or behind desks; cleaning supplies under beds or behind desks rather than hidden away somewhere else.

Raise Beds for More Floor Space

You can always raise your beds. This is an easy and inexpensive way to get a little more floor space, as well as make it easier to get in and out of bed. If you’re using bed risers, they’ll also provide extra storage space underneath the bed. If you don’t want to go with a traditional desk chair or stool for homework time.

Use Mini Fridge Caddy

To make the most of your dorm space, you’ll want to consider using a mini-fridge caddy. This is a great way to keep things organized and out of the way, especially if you have limited space in your dorm room. You can use it for holding beverages or snacks, but many students also find that it’s useful as storage for their mini-fridges themselves. The mini fridge can help in organizing your dorm room by taking up storage of some items in your dorm, thereby creating more space in your dorm room.

Use Plastic Storage Drawers

The use of plastic storage drawers is a major dorm room organization tip. These are easily the best option for clothing, especially if you’re in a small space and need to maximize your floor space. They don’t take up a lot of room, but they make it easy to keep your clothes organized and find what you’re looking for with minimal fuss.

If necessary, store them on the floor or on top of another shelf (we recommend keeping them near where clothes get hung up). You could also purchase some cheap hooks or clips from Amazon or Walmart ($15-20) which attach easily to any closet door frame, allowing you to hang everything off hangers instead of folding it all together in one big pile on the floor as most college kids do.

DIY Wood Top Shelf

A DIY wood top shelf is a great way to add storage to your dorm room and help to organize your dorm. This will also be a great place for you to display photos, small plants, and other decorative items. Simply follow these steps:

  • Measure the space you want the shelf to be placed on, and then cut two pieces of 2 x 4-inch lumber that are at least 15 inches longer than the space. (If you want an L-shaped unit, cut one piece of plywood or particleboard in half).
  • Measure the height of your bed frame and make sure it’s tall enough; this might require using extra screws or nails into wall studs if there isn’t enough room between them for your project. Use a level tool on both sides of each piece before screwing them together in place using 1-inch wood screws every 6 inches along all four sides where they meet. You don’t need glue because they’ll be permanently attached.

Use Hanging Shoe Organizer

A hanging shoe organizer is a great way to keep your dorm room closet organized. It can be used to hang belts, scarves, and other accessories, or simply as a place to store trash bags. If you’re feeling inventive, it can also be used as an over-the-door jewelry holder or even as a way to organize snacks in the dorm room.

Perhaps the most popular use for these organizers is for storing toiletries like toothbrushes and razors. It makes it easy for roommates (or yourself) when get ready in the morning. These organizers are also great for holding hair products such as bobby pins or barrettes because they will stay put instead of falling out of drawers or baskets where they’re stored elsewhere around campus.

Use Desktop Organizer

A desk organizer is a must-have for any student or professional who wants to keep their workspace neat. This desktop Organizer can help you genuinely organize your dorm room study space. This simple storage solution allows you to keep everything within easy reach, but out of sight.

When selecting one for your dorm room, make sure it has ample space for all your supplies as well as a few other items that are bound to come in handy during college.

Pens, pencils, and highlighters are best placed on the side compartments so they’re easily accessible when needed; sticky notes should go into the center compartment where they’ll be protected from any moisture that may accumulate at the bottom of your bag during a rainstorm (or if someone spills something on it).

The lid doubles as an excellent place to hold small notebooks or sticky notes while you’re away from home studying or working on assignments late into the night. Just remember not to store anything too heavy here since this will compromise its structural integrity over time.
