 Kindly note that there is a new multifactor admissions (MFA) evaluation process for Fall 2021 implemented by CPP to evaluate First-Time students. The new MFA process excludes your ACT/SAT scores and instead relies on both your academic and non-academic variables when evaluating your admissibility.

  •  A-G Requirements-This is also called the Academic Subject Requirements. It represents the minimum academic preparation you must meet to be eligible for admission. You must also complete this A-G college preparatory pattern of courses with grades of C- or better.

  1. Two years of history:
  • One year of world or European history, cultures and geography, and one year of U.S. history or
  • one half-year of U.S. history and one half-year of American government or civics
  1. Four years of English
  2. Three years of mathematics (four years recommended) – Must include algebra, geometry, and advanced algebra.
  3. Two years of science (three years recommended) – Must include two years of laboratory science, however additional years can include a range of disciplines such as: applied science, engineering, computer science, and other integrated science courses.
  4. Two years of a language other than English (three years recommended) – The second year or higher of the same language must be completed to fulfill this requirement.
  5. One year of visual and performing arts – A yearlong course chosen from the following disciplines: dance, drama/theater, music, visual art, or interdisciplinary arts
  6. One year of college-preparatory electives

  • Cal Poly uses coursework taken from grades 9 – 12 to count towards the A-G course requirements. The GPA used for admission is calculated based on grades earned in A-G courses taken after grade 9.

  • Your GPA should be from completed math courses such as math and quantitative reasoning (approved Area C and Area G) courses taken.
  • You are required to have at least  a 2.5 GPA or 3.0 for non-California residents or a higher grade in the 15 required “a-g” subject courses. No grade should be lower than a C.
  •  SAT/ACT scores: The utilization of SAT/ACT scores for admission eligibility have been suspended temporarily for the 2021-22 and the 2022-23 academic years. This applies to the Fall 2021 and Fall 2022 admission cycles. If you decide to submit your test scores, they will not be used for admission purposes. However, If admitted, scores maybe used for first year course placement.
  • Your experiences and special circumstances such as military status, first generation to attend college, work experience, foster youth, extra-curricular activities, leadership positions, work related to major, approved campus partnerships and high school educational programs will be taken into consideration.
  • You are required to submit your unofficial transcripts. Your unofficial transcript can be gotten through your high school’s student portal.
  • While applying, you are required to select the major you want to study before submitting an application.
  • You are required to pay for admission, it costs $70, and it is non-refundable.

What are the admission requirements for International freshmen at California Poly, Pomona (CPP)?

  • If you schooled in the United States of America, you will be required to enter your U.S. coursework on your “Cal State Apply application.” If you schooled outside the United States of America, you are not required to enter your coursework. You will however be required to mail a copy of your transcripts for assessment of your academic performance
