While I was researching Universities in China, I discovered some interesting facts you should know about education in China.

I realized that China boasts to be one of the world’s largest higher education systems in the world. It is the largest in terms of sheer numbers, with roughly 37 million students.

In the Academic Ranking of World Universities and the US News & World Report Best Global University Ranking, China had the world’s second-highest number of top universities.

In 2017, China overtook the United States as the country with the most scientific publications. China has the most universities (204), according to the CWTS Leiden Ranking edition for 2020.

Tsinghua University

Tsinghua University was founded in 1911 and many renowned leaders in science, engineering, politics, business, academia, and culture have come from it. It is located in northwest Beijing, China.

The university is ranked No. 1 in Asia by THE Asia University Rankings and U.S. News and Globe Report and is ranked 15th in the world by the QS World University Rankings.

Although Chinese is the major language of instruction, several graduate degree programs are available in English. Master’s degrees in Chinese politics, foreign policy, and international relations, mechanical engineering, and global business journalism, for example, are all taught in English at the university.

Tsinghua University offers more than 70 undergraduate degree programs, as well as numerous master’s and doctoral degree programs. There are around 300 research institutions within the university.

Peking University

The Ministry of Science and Technology considers USTC to be one of China’s top four institutions for scientific research. In an assessment of China’s top institutions published in the US magazine “Science” and the French publication “Research,” it ranks among the finest.

USTC is frequently referred to as “China’s Caltech” due to its overwhelming leading position and reputation in Science and Engineering research.

USTC offers a first-rate campus computer network that serves the entire school. The Center of Physical Science, Life Science, Information Science, Engineering and Material Science, and Application of Synchrotron Radiation are among the five public experimental centers for teaching and research now under construction.

Zhejiang University

Huazhong University of Science and Technology

Huazhong Institute of Technology was the original name of the institution when it was founded in 1952. The former HUST amalgamated with Tongji Medical University (established in 1907) and Wuhan Urban Construction Institute (formed in 1952) on May 26, 2000, resulting in the current HUST.

The institution is one of the first to benefit from the “Double First-class” Initiative, which was previously sponsored by the “211 Project” and the “985 Project.”

Huazhong University of Science and Technology is well-known for its superior research facilities as well as its academic accomplishments. Tongji University

Tongji University was founded in Shanghai in 1907 by the German government and German physicians as part of Project 985. It is one of China’s oldest, most selective, and famous universities. It is a “Class A” Double First-Class University recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

The engineering, architecture, and business programs of Tongji University are particularly well-known. The institution has a faculty of about 2,803 professors, including 27 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Engineering.

Some of the notable alumni of Tongji University are Wan Gang (万钢), Minister of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, Li Linsi (厉麟似), China’s Mahatma Gandhi, diplomatic consultant to Chiang Kai-shek, Tang Dengjie (唐登杰), Former Vice Mayor of Shanghai, amongst others.

Hunan University

Hunan University is a national public research university in Changsha, Hunan, and a part of the Chinese university Projects 211 and 985.

Hunan University is regarded as one of the top ten engineering research universities in China. Hunan University is ranked 48th in engineering among Best Global Universities by U.S. News & World Report as of 2020.

The school’s library contains around 6,200,000 books in its collection.

Hunan University currently contains one Graduate School and 23 colleges, with 11 different fields including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, medical, and art.

They also employ around 4,300 people, including nearly 2000 faculty members. Nearly 1,200 professors and associate professors work at the university.

South China University of Technology

South China University was founded in 1952, through a reorganization process that unified the engineering schools and departments of major universities from five provinces in Central and Southern China.

Despite its early focus on engineering and technology, it had developed to become one of China’s major higher education schools by 1960. It began offering master’s and doctoral degrees in 1981, and it was given its current name in 1988.

SCUT is now a multidisciplinary institution with programs in the arts, sciences, social sciences, and business administration.

It has received a number of honors and titles, including membership in Project 985, China’s acclaimed initiative to transform its important universities into world-class institutions.
